This week, Senior Pastor Parkey Cobern teaches part 6 of “A Study of 2nd Corinthians,” delving into the first of many book studies taking place this year. For the sixth part, Pastor Parkey looks at picking the best partner possible as addressed in 2 Corinthians 6. We read how the Corinthians are reminded that when they received Christ, they also received His ministry! And therefore commanded not to receive God’s grace in vain, but to begin their own ministry “now.” At the same time, Paul is also defending his actions and ministry; he was not, as was typical and accepted, ordained by the church to minister, but rather he was called and equipped by God! Paul reminds the Corinthians how they acted, exalted God, responded to different hardships; they were in decent standing, but not opened to the Word of God, closed off in their hearts because of their own emotions. They are reminded of the evidence of God’s ministry, not to receive God’s grace in vain, and not to yoke themselves alongside unbelievers in the inner circle of their life! This is ultimately to keep the dwelling place of God pure and clean. As people of God, we clean the uncleanliness out of our lives!
