This week, Senior Pastor Parkey Cobern teaches part 9 of “A Study of 2nd Corinthians,” delving into the first of many book studies taking place this year. For the ninth part, Pastor Parkey takes a look at the weapons of our warfare as addressed in 2 Corinthians 10. We read how Paul was revered for his teachings and writings, yet he was undermined for his looks and the manner in which he preached (being different from the usual Jewish methods). Paul addresses these weapons of warfare and clarifies that they are not carnal! The heart of man is changed through the combination of spirit working together with truth.
We can be mighty in God if we remain slow to wrath against those that strike at us with physical, verbal, and emotional abuses. We must tear down the strongholds around us; the lofty opinions, lies, pretensions, presumptions and reasonings that argue against the truth of the Word of God! We can do this by subduing the thoughts of our mind by force and destroying them! We must make a willful choice to obey God and replace false thoughts and words with the truth. Human evaluations are fruitless and mean nothing in the grand scheme, as only God’s opinion matters in every situation!
2 Corinthians 10:17-18: “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
